William H. "Bill" Olson, Jr.

William H. “Bill” Olson, Jr., age 87 of Clayton, WI passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2016 at the Amery Regional Medical Center.

He was born of  August 31, 1928 to William H. Olson, Sr. and Evelyn Olson (nee Vassau) at Clayton, WI.  Bill grew up in Clayton and attended Clayton public school.  He was a World War II veteran, having served at COMSUBLANT, USN  at the New London, Connecticut Submarine Base.  He then attended the University of  Wisconsin Madison, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and graduated with a degree in Public Utility Economics.  Bill was employed by Northern States Power Company (MN) and Xcel Energy at the Corporate Headquarters in Minneapolis.  He retired after 36 years of service as Manager, Gas Utility Revenue Requirements, having testified as an expert witness in numerous rate cases before regulatory commissions in three states and the FPC/FEFC.  Thereupon, Bill returned to his hometown of Clayton and served as Village Clerk/Treasurer for 21 years.  During that time he was a  member of the Clayton School Board, Faith Lutheran Church Council, Clayton Lions Club, Clayton  Cemetery Association and several economic development organization to promote the Village of Clayton.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William, Sr. & Evelyn Olson; sister, Kay Olson Chandler;      and infant brother, Donnie;
