Viola M. Johnson

Viola M. Johnson, age 94 of  Clear Lake, WI, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Willow Ridge Care Center Nursing Home in Amery, WI where she had been a resident the past 3 years.

Viola Mae Johnson was born on March 20, 1921 in New Richmond, WI, the daughter of Melvin & Mary (Lindemann) Peterson.  She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond, WI, grew up in Deer Park and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church there.    Viola graduated from Amery High School in 1939 and later worked at various retail jobs in New Richmond.   She was married to Delmer “Buster” Johnson in Deer Park on February 1, 1947, made their home in Clear Lake, WI,  and raised two children, Michael and Mary.  While living in Clear Lake, over the years Viola worked at Alice Barthman’s clothing store, Jer-Jill’s Grocery Store and at Fall Electric.  She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, serving on the Ladies Aid, Quilting, and teaching Sunday School for over 25 years.  Viola loved socializing, playing cards and was active in the Clear Lake Senior Center.  She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, Delmer “Buster” Johnson;  parents, Melvin & Mary Peterson;  
brothers, Adrian, Clifford, Fritz, & Jake Peterson;  & sisters, Wilma Nietge, Lorraine Ajer, & Loretta Peterson
