Scott F. Swanepoel, age 58 of Ridgeland, WI, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by his family at his sister’s home in Boyceville, WI after a long battle with cancer.
Scott Francis Swanepoel was born the youngest of seven on September 19, 1967, to Frank and Betty Swanepoel in New Richmond, WI. He grew up in Glenwood City and attended Glenwood City Schools. He went to state in high school football in 1985 and graduated with the Class of ‘86. Post high school, Scott moved to Marshall, MN and worked at a turkey factory. After moving back to Emerald, WI in 1991, he worked for Friday Canning, where he met his wife, Dawn (Thaemert) in 1998. Then with the help of a friend, Mike Olson, Scott learned to drive a semi-truck and got his CDL. He drove for Terminal Transport (out of Centerville, MN), TRAC Inc. in Menomonie, WI, and West Wisconsin Transport in Eau Claire, WI. Scott eventually settled in at Quality Grain Services in Boyceville, WI in 2007 and was there until he retired in 2018. In the fall of 2000, Scott married Dawn Thaemert in Deer Park, WI. The couple went on to raise four children together: Danielle, Jason, Betty, & Rachel. While raising his children, Scott’s life consisted of being a Packer fan, going for bike rides with his kids, watching football, spending time with his family, riding his Harley motorcycle, and lots of joking around. Scott was happy when he was surrounded by his family and friends. During his retirement, he continued to enjoy his life by going on motorcycle trips, ice fishing, cooking, grilling in the outdoors, and gardening and canning his tomatoes.
