Roy Nelson Obituary

 

Roy  J.  Nelson, age 90 of Clear Lake, WI  died on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his daughter, Rhonda and son in law, Greg.

 

Roy John Nelson was born on April 14,1932 near Barron WI, the son of Clarence & Catherine (Kelly) Nelson.  Roy left home at the age of 14 years old to work various jobs and later joined the US Marine Corps in 1949.    He served honorably during the Korean War and was trained to operate heavy machinery.   After he was discharged from the    service in 1953, Roy returned to Wisconsin.  He was married to Arlene Hinz on May 7, 1955, at Barron, WI and together they raised 5 children, Deborah, Michael, Rhonda, Tamera & Monica.  Roy owned and operated a dairy farm in Rice Lake, WI and served as a Deputy Sherriff with Barron County for many years before moving to Arizona where he raised cattle on his ranch near Mesa.   After Arlene’s death on May 16, 1994, Roy returned to Clear Lake, WI.    In his spare time, he enjoyed raising and training quarter horses.  He would often bring out his horse drawn buggies for parades and   buggy rides.   Roy enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.  He also raised blood hounds and was an avid hunter.  Roy will be returning to Arizona to be buried next to Arlene,  the love of his life. 

 

Roy is proceeded in death by his wife Arlene Nelson;  parents,  Clarence & Catherine (Kelly) Nelson;

and his son, Michael Nelson; and sister Irene Nelson.

 

He is survived by;

Daughters  -  Deborah (Johnny),  Rhonda (Greg),  Tamera ,  & Monica (Brian)

 

Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren

 

Interment will be at City of Mesa Cemetery in Mesa, AZ with Military Honors
