Ronald A. “Golden Bear” Boe, age 79 of Deer Park, WI, passed away at his home on March 21, 2026.
Ron was born on February 5, 1947, in Fort Benton, Montana, the son of Daniel & Alice (Miller) Boe and was later blessed with a stepmother, Glade Boe. He grew up near Menomonie, WI and while attending school he worked for Prochnow Farms for four years before graduating from Menomonie High School in 1965. Ron went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a jet engine mechanic aboard the USS Hornet and was part of the historic crew that recovered Apollo 11 & 12 following the moon landing, an accomplishment he carried with pride throughout his life. After he was honorably discharged from the military, Ron went on to work for Norlake in Hudson, WI as a welder. Ron met his devoted wife of 55 years Rita Renee Stefonek, and they married October 10, 1970, at the Catholic Church in New Richmond, WI. Together they farmed for 3 years and later built their log home while raising 4 children, Jenny, Jake, Jeremy & Janette. Ron worked for Andersen Windows for almost 30 years before retiring to have more time to enjoy his passion of hunting and fishing. The many hunting groups knew him best by his CB handle “Golden Bear”. He was well known for his gift of gab, always ready for a story to tell. Many would say the truth may have been stretched from time to time. His sense of humor and storytelling left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Above all, Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and a loyal friend to many. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
