Richard M. Humpal, age 79 of Manitowoc, WI, formerly of Clear Lake, WI died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Shady Lane Care Home in Manitowoc.
Richard Max Humpal was born on September 5, 1935, in Forest Township, WI, the son of Wenzel & Alice (Heibel) Humpal. He grew up in the Clear Lake area and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church there. Richard attended White Birch School and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1953. In 1954, Richard was married to Lorene Hermanson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together made their home in Clayton, WI and raised two sons; Lonnie and Ronnie. Over the course of the next few years, Richard and his family lived in the Twin Cities where he worked as a building contractor. In 1978, Richard moved to Mukilteo, WA and continued to build homes there until his retirement. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. He was an active member and elder at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Edmonds, WA. Richard and Lorene have lived in Manitowoc for the past eight years.
