Richard A. Hillstead

Richard  A.  Hillstead, age 81, of Clear Lake, WI died on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Willow Ridge Care Center in Amery, WI following a 5 year battle with Alzheimer's & Demetia.

Richard Allen Hillstead was born on December 22. 1942 in Baldwin, WI the son of Albert & Alvina Hillstead. He grew up in the Woodville area of St. Croix County, was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church there and graduated from Woodville High School in 1961.  Richard worked for a short time before enlisting in the US Army in 1963.  During this time, he entered the OCS and was honorably discharged in 1969 after rising to the rank of Captain.  Richard returned home and farmed for several years before venturing into a number of sales opportunities and positions.  On October 27, 1979, he was married to Lorraine Sanders at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodville and together they raised two  children, Gary & Sarah.  Eventually, Richard and his family settled into the area of Clear Lake, WI where he worked for many years truck driving.  In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, reading, camping, fishing and fixing things that weren’t broken.  Richard was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodville and currently a member of the Reeve Evangelical Free Church in Clear Lake, WI.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. 

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; Albert & Alvina Hillstead; & in-laws, Donald & Lavan Sanders.

Memorial Service  11am at the Reeve Evangelical Free Church in Clear Lake, WI on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Visitation will be from  9  -  11 am  before the service at the church on Saturday.

Interment at  Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, WI with full military honors
