Neil L. Lonergan, age 94 of Amery, WI, formerly of Clear Lake, WI, died on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at his home in Amery.
Neil Leonard Lonergan was born on June 13th, 1918 in Orchard, Iowa, the son of Lloyd & Mathilda Lonergan. He grew up near Osage, Iowa and attended school there. In 1942, Neil joined the US Army Air Corps and served his country during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1944 and returned to Iowa. On June 4, 1944, Neil was married to Lily L. Clapsaddle at the United Methodist Church in Mason City, Iowa and together they raised three children, Marian, James, & Kathleen. They lived in Swaledale, Iowa until 1959 when they moved to operate a dairy farm in Lincoln Township, Polk County, WI. Upon retirement, Neil built a home in Black Brook Township, rural Clear Lake and lived there until 1988. Upon his wife's death, he moved into Clear Lake, WI and lived there for 4 years. He then he moved to Amery. In his spare time he enjoyed having coffee with friends, visiting, putting puzzles together, and playing cards with friends. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake for many years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lily Lonergan; his parents Lloyd & Mathilda Lonergan;
brothers William & Charles Lonergan;
sisters, Maxine Miller & Ila Ebbers; and 2 granchildren, Kara Ann Moretta & Thomas Patrick Lonergan.
He is Survived by
