Maryln E. Zurcher

Maryln E. Zurcher, age 86 of Amery, WI, formerly of Clear Lake, WI, died early on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at her home at River Bend Assisted Living in Amery, WI.

Maryln Esther Zurcher was born on August 19, 1937 in Turtle Lake, WI,  the daughter of Walter & Martha (Koenig) Kolba.   She grew up in Turtle Lake, was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Comstock, WI and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1956.   Marlyn was married to Ernie Zurcher on November 9, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Comstock and they made their home and operated a dairy farm on the Polk-St. Croix County line near Clear Lake, WI.  Together they raised two daughters, Janell and Janette. 

 Maryln was a strong lady that wore many hats.  She was a farmer,  housewife, mother,  gardener and hard worker who had a love for animals.  She loved her flowers and spent hours canning,  freezing, and making jelly with the produce from her garden.  Maryln also enjoyed making silk flower arrangements and decorated extensively for all holidays and seasons.  It would take her 2 weeks to decorate the whole yard for Christmas including the interior of her house.  She also created many beautiful quilts to give away to her family and friends.  Maryln loved helping older people retain their importance in the world and she worked for 17 years at the Golden Age Manor in Amery as an activities coordinator. She spent many hours outside of work to make door tags and did prep work for entertainment programs and craft projects for the seniors.

Marlyn was also very strong in her faith and she served many years teaching Sunday school, confirmation classes and acted as     president of the Ladies aid at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Forest, WI.   She dedicated many hours working for the church and their ministry. 

After Ernie and Maryln sold their cows, they took a 3-week dream vacation to Switzerland.  She always thought of herself as Swiss, despite her being 100% German.  After Ernie’s death in 1996, Maryln took many senior trips all around the United States.  She also traveled to Sweden, Norway and Canada.  She would make scrapbooks documenting her trips along with writing articles about her travels for the Clear Lake Chronicle. 

After Marlyn sold her farm to her grandson Colton, she moved to Ridgeview Manor in Clear Lake and lived there for 8 years  before moving to River Bend in Amery .  She especially loved spending time with her family and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Zurcher;  parents, Walter & Martha Kolba;

brother, Walter Kolba, Jr.; twin newborn sisters, Elsie & Ella Kolba;  & foster daughter, Jeanne McPherson

Funeral Service  at  11am on Monday, November 27,  2023 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest, WI.

Visitation  -  Sunday,  November 26,  2023 at  Scheuermann Funeral Home  from  4 - 7 pm  and one hour before

                      the service at church on Monday.
