Mardell (Mardy) Anderson
Mardell M. Anderson age 102 of Amery, WI formerly of Clear Lake, WI passed away early on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Amery Hospital.
Mardell Mary “Mardy” Tulgren was born on May 9, 1922, in Clear Lake, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernest and Jessie Davis Tulgren. Mardell was baptized and confirmed in the Clear Lake United Methodist Church in 1934. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1940. Mardell was married to Quentin Anderson on June 26, 1940. Together they raised two children, Ronald and Stacia. She devoted her life to being a wife, mother and homemaker. Mardell was active in the United Methodist Women, serving as president and secretary for four years. She received the Special Recognition Pin for mission work in the UMW, and she also taught junior high Sunday School. In her later years, she crocheted many prayer shawls for ailing church members and friends. Mardell was a life member of the Clear Lake VFW Auxiliary, where she assisted with preparing Christmas cookies and worked at steak fry dinners. She enjoyed traveling and fishing in Canada with Quentin and reading, playing cards, golfing, and watching old musicals and movies. She also loved singing in the chorus of Playing the Palace, a Clear Lake Community Theatre musical. She especially loved playing cards with son-in-law John and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who fondly referred to her as “Grandma Mardy.” Mardell loved to call family and friends and sing to them. Her favorite was the Sunshine song. But she was always ready to throw in a show tune. Because of singing she got to be known as the Clear Lake songbird, a title she loved! She was also made an honorary Miss Clear Lake. Mardell lived her last years at Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI. She loved all of the activities, but bingo and karaoke were her favorites. Even at her 102-birthday celebration she was able to sing songs to her friends at the party.
