Lucille C. "Lucy" Witthoft

Lucille C. “Lucy” Witthoft, age 75 of Mahtomedi, MN, formerly of Clear Lake, WI died on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Coventry Senior Living in Mahtomedi.
 
Lucille Catherine Witthoft was born on May 30, 1941 in Amery, WI, the daughter of  Paul & Florence (Williams) Cress.  She grew up on her parent's dairy farm in Clear Lake and loved all the animals there, especially her bandy chickens.  Lucy would often ride her pony Nipper to school.   Lucy and John Witthoft began dating in High School and were king and queen of the prom.  They graduated from Clear Lake High school in 1959.   After high school, Lucy  moved to St. Paul and lived with John’s sisters Pat Jungmann and Jo Witthoft and worked as a secretary at St. Paul Fire & Marine.  She later became a personal secretary for Robert Short, owner of the Minneapolis Laker's.  Lucy was  married to John Witthoft on August 16, 1962 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake, WI and together made their home in Eau Claire, WI.   They moved several times before eventually settling down in Superior, WI  where they raised four children, Mike, Jeff, Jodi, Laurie.  She worked at the University of Minnesota Duluth in Information Services as an executive  secretary for 35 years.  Lucy enjoyed driving over the high bridge with a view of Lake Superior every morning and had a great time with her lunch bunch.  She retired in 2007.   She was active in the Catholic church in Superior (St. Francis), and enjoyed gardening, house plants, sewing, crafts, and animals.   Lucy was a fantastic mother and homemaker and celebrated every holiday with decorations, food and family gatherings.  She remained spunky and independent throughout her struggle with Alzheimer's.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul & Florence Cress

Funeral Mass will be at St. John's Catholic Church in Clear Lake, WI  on
Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at 10:30 am

Visitation at the Scheuermann Funeral Home in Clear Lake on Friday,
Nov. 4, 2016  from 4 - 7 pm and one hour before the Service on Saturday

Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Glenwood City, WI
