Lillian M. Flanum

Lillian M. Flanum age 98, of Clear Lake, WI  died on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Golden Age Manor Nursing Home of Amery, WI, where she had been a resident for the past 3 years.

Lillian Mathilda Flanum was born on November 3, 1914 in Stanton Township, St. Croix County, WI, the daughter of  Augustus & Lillian Sabean.   She grew up near Forest, WI,  attended Meadow Dale Country School and graduated from New Richmond High School.  After high school, Lillian  attended Teacher Training in   New Richmond and taught school for a short time in the area.  Lillian was married to Melvin Flanum on June 10, 1934 near New Richmond, WI.  The next few years they lived  south of Amery for a short time and in Grey Town, near West Akers Church before settling near Clear Lake in 1937.  Together they  raised 5 children,  Donald, Melvin Jr., Kenneth, Keith, & Joyce.    She was a devoted wife and mother to her family and after the death of her son Donald in 1954, Lillian was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in  Forest.    Over the years she continued to take care of her husband and family   In her spare time, Lillian enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, snowmobiling, camping, berry picking and fishing.  After the death of her   husband Melvin in 1993, she moved into the village of Clear Lake and in 2010 became a resident at the Golden Age Manor Nursing Home in Amery, WI.  She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Flanum;  sons, Donald and Roy Flanum;
9 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral Services on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 11:00 am from the United Methodist Church of  Clear Lake, WI.

Visitation  -  Sunday at the Funeral Home from 5 - 8 pm and one hour before the service  at the church on Monday
