Larry Lien Obituary

 

Larry D. Lien, age 84 of Clear Lake, WI died peacefully on Thursday morning, March 26, 2026 at his home.

Larry Dennis Lien was born in Amery, WI on November 2, 1941, the son of Otis and Helen (Hendrickson) Lien.  He grew up in the Reeve area and attended Clear Lake schools, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1960.   After graduation, Larry worked for the village of Clear Lake and at the Clear Lake Creamery before going on to become an LP delivery driver.  During this time, he married Cheryl Mayala in November of 1961 at West Akers Lutheran Church in New Haven Township.  Together they made their home in Clear Lake and later moved to Woodbury, MN where they raised 3 children, Loni, Robert, & Jackie.  After Cheryl’s death in 1998,  Larry was married to Mary Jo Anderson on June 29, 2001 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua,  Iowa.  They lived in New Richmond before making their  home in  Clear Lake and he continued to drive LP truck until his retirement in 2006.  Larry loved spending time with his friends and family.  He was known for his sense of humor and ability to razz and tease those people who were closest to him  He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. 

 

He is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl; son, Loni Lien; parents Otis and Helen Lien;

his brother,  Orvand & Darrel Lien; sister,  Sandra Schultz;  and step-sisters,  Barb Wickboldt & Marlys Johnson

 

Survived by:

Wife  -  Mary Jo Lien  of  Clear Lake, WI

Daughter & Son  -  Jackie  (Clay) Hanson  &  Robert (Heather) Lien

Grandchildren  -  Kasey ( Mykiala) Lien, Cheri & Samuel Lien, Finnegan Hanson & Parker Hanson

Great Grandchildren  - Everly Lien, Brek Lien  &  Rowan Fairbanks

Step Grandchildren  -  Erin (Taylor) Peterson & Adam (Tessa) Peterson & Jake Peterson

Step Son  -  Owen (Marissa) Peterson

Step Brother  -   Dick (Joy) Reese

Brothers & Sisters-In-Law  -  Dave (Sue) Anderson, Wallace (Dina) Anderson  &  Lois Vick

Many Relatives, Family & Friends

 

Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday,  April 11, 2026 at First Luther Church in  Clear Lake, WI

 

Visitation will be from 9  am  -  11 am  fore the service on Saturday at the church.

Interment will  be at West Akers Cemetery in Prairie Farm, WI
