Joan Lorraine (Lee) Cassellius
October 23, 1954- May 27, 2026
Joan Lorraine (Lee) Cassellius, age 71, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026
.
Joan was born on October 23, 1954, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to Selvin and Betty (Allram) Lee. She was a proud graduate of Glenwood City High School and was honored to be crowned Miss Glenwood City in 1973.
Joan grew up attending Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City, where her faith became an important part of her life and most recently has become a member of Trinity Lutheran in Boyceville. On April 6, 1974, Joan married the love of her life, John Frank Cassellius, at Holy Cross. Together they built a beautiful life centered around family and love. They raised their four children in Downing, Wisconsin, where Joan was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom, dedicating herself to her family. Prior to taking care of her family and home, she cared for others as a CNA.
In 2001, John and Joan moved to Boyceville, where they built a home that became the place for family gatherings and treasured memories for their children and grandchildren. Nothing brought Joan more joy than having everyone “home” together. Joan found great happiness in gardening, canning, tending to her flowers, and spending quiet time with John at their “little house” in the woods. Joan especially loved Christmas and all the traditions that came with it. She enjoyed decorating the house, baking treats for family and friends, listening to Christmas music, and preparing meals for family celebrations. The holiday season brought her joy, especially when it meant family would be together. Her greatest pride was always her children and grandchildren. Whether spending time with them or cheering them on at their sporting events, Joan was happiest surrounded by her family.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, John Cassellius; her children, Jennifer (Kelly) Lagerstrom, John (Emily) Cassellius, Jeff (Katie) Cassellius, and Jeremy (Angie) Cassellius; and her grandchildren, Falicia (Shane) Wizykoski, Tucker (fiancée Morgan) Lagerstrom, Natasha Lagerstrom, Bryan (fiancée Anna) Cassellius, Molly Cassellius, Owen Cassellius, Gavin Cassellius, Riley Cassellius, Eli Cassellius, and Jordy Cassellius. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Easton, Emmett, and Gracie Wizykoski, and a bonus great-grandchild Aiden Lagerstrom.
Joan is further survived by her siblings, Rita (Pete) Van Stelle, Pam (Don) Edwards, and Steve (Julie) Lee; sister-in-law Linda (Ron) Talmage; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whom she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Selvin and Betty Lee and other family and friends.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyceville, Wisconsin. A meal and fellowship will follow the service.
Joan will be remembered for her devotion to her family, the love she poured into her home, garden, meals she cooked and sweets she baked, her genuine kindness, big hugs and the moments she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished so dearly.
Scheuermann Funeral Home and Cremation Services are handling the arrangements.
