James M. Buhr

James M. Buhr, age 91 of Clear Lake, WI, was called home to be with his wife Harriet on her birthday, Wednesday,  February 5, 2014  at the Golden Age Manor Nursing Home in Amery, WI

James Mathias Buhr was born on August 4, 1922 in Stewart, MN, the son of Anton & Mary (Klinkhammer) Buhr.  He moved from Stewart, MN as a young child to Clear Lake, WI, grew up there, and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1940.   James then went on to serve in the  US Army’s 12th Armored Division out of Ft. Campbell, KY.   After a tour of duty with his unit in Germany during WWII, James was honorably discharged in 1945.   While on leave,  he was married to Harriet Aronson on January 22, 1944 in Abeline, TX.  After the war, they moved to  Clear Lake, WI  and raised six children, Sandy, Maria, Richard, Julie, Scott & Stephen.   James worked for many years at the Farmers Co-op Creamery in Clear Lake and also operated a dairy farm.   He later went on to own and operate Buhr Trucking for many years.  When he wasn't working, James enjoyed dancing, playing cards, draft horses, and traveling.  He and Harriet took many trips to Waverly, Iowa for horse pulls and auctions.  James especially loved spending time with his children,   grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was an  active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake, WI and  a member of the Clear Lake VFW.    He was also a charter member of the Clear Lake FFA.  James will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Harriet;   parents, Anton & Mary Buhr;
great grandchildren, Travis Catts and Gracie Hush;
5 brothers,  Nick, Joe, Ralph, Tony, & Nestor Buhr;
3 sisters,  Alice Barthman, Eleanor Paulson, & Mary Ann Buhr.

Funeral Service - Monday,  February 10, 2014 at 11:00 am  at St. John’s Catholic Church
in Clear Lake, WI

Visitation - Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 3-7 pm at the Scheuermann Funeral Home and an hour before the service on Monday at the church.

Parish Prayer Service will be on Sunday at 6:30 pm at the Funeral Home.
Interment at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, WI
