Howard A. Johnson

Howard A. Johnson,  age 90 of Clear Lake, WI passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the River Bend Memory Care Center  in Amery, WI where he had been a resident since 2011.

Howard Armond Johnson was born on August 23, 1922 in Black Brook Township, WI, the son of Hjalmer & Laura (Amundsen) Johnson.  He grew up in the Clear Lake area and attended school there.  Howard served in the US Army  during WWII and fought in both the European and Pacific Theaters of the war.   After he was honorably discharged, Howard  returned to Clear Lake and married Erma Hagen on June 29, 1947 at East Immanuel  Lutheran Church.  They were married for 66 years to the date.  Together they made their home in Clear Lake where they owned and operated a milk route.   In 1948 they made their home in Brainerd, MN and purchased a Hertz Rent a Car and taxi cab service.  In 1953 they returned to Clear Lake to dairy farming and raised five children,  Arlie, Richard, Kevin, Joy, & Brian.  Howard was also a partner in Hanson-Johnson Equipment in Clear Lake for several years. In 1979 he retired to hobby farming and in 1988, he stopped milking and together he and Erma moved to the Village of Clear Lake.  In his spare time Howard enjoyed hunting and fishing and over the years planted hundreds of trees around his property.  He was active on the Clear Lake Township Board, Moe Lutheran Church Council, and active member of the Clear Lake VFW and American Legion.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmer & Laura Johnson, 3 brothers, 9 sisters.
