George A. Setter, age 67 of Deer Park, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Amery Hospital in Amery, WI.
George Allan Setter was born on January 10, 1957, in Amery, WI, the youngest son of Wallace & Irene (Mentink) Setter. He grew up in Deer Park and attended Clear Lake Schools, graduating in 1975. During school he was active in FFA, choir, and musicals. After high school, George attended UW-River Falls and graduated in 1979 with a BS degree in Farm Management. He joined the college choir and notably toured in Japan. He met his future wife, Kathy, at Navigators. On July 21, 1979, George was married to Kathleen M. Vann in Milwaukee, WI. Together they made their home in Deer Park to work the Setter family dairy farm and raise four children, Peter, Kristi, Diana and Erin. In addition to farming, George worked various other occupations. He managed feed mills in Baldwin and Connersville for several years before working as a cheesemaker at Foremost Farms in Wilson, WI. For the past 15 years he drove truck for various companies starting with Knight Transportation and ending with Form-A-Feed in New Richmond, WI. For 45 years George was very active at Journey Church (formerly First Baptist) in Amery, WI where he held various offices, participated in the men’s bible study and led Sunday School and youth group on and off throughout the years. In addition to his lifelong interest in farming, George enjoyed classical music, listening to talk radio and "watching" sports with his eyes closed while reclined. He loved to read and travel with his wife. He especially loved spending time with family and friends and his regular phone calls will be greatly missed. His greatest joy was being a doting husband, dad, and papa.
True to his generous nature, George was able to donate tissue with the potential of helping up to 200 people.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be at 11AM on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Journey Church in Amery, WI.
Visitation will be from 4 - 7PM on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Journey Church in Amery and an hour before the service on Monday.
Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park, WI.
