Genevieve M. Heibel, age 94 of Amery, WI, formerly of Clear Lake, WI, died on Monday, November. 17, 2014, at the Golden Age Manor Nursing Home in Amery, WI.
Genevieve Murial Heibel was born on July 24, 1920, in Deer Park, St. Croix County, WI, the daughter of Harry & Amanda (Krueger) Torgerson. She grew up in the Deer Park area, was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church there and attended Amery High School. Genevieve was married to Melvin J. Heibel on October 28, 1944 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery, and together they raised four children, Susan, Sharon, Roxanne & Rick. Together they lived on Melvin’s family homestead, raised their family, and operated the dairy farm for many years. In her spare time, Genevieve enjoyed traveling and after retirement spent winters with Melvin in Mission, Texas. She also enjoyed canning and baking and was known for her homemade bread. Genevieve loved visiting and spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake. In 2006, she and Melvin moved to Amery and became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church there. She has been a resident of Golden Age Manor Nursing Home since April of 2011.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents Harry & Amanda Torgerson;
