Dixie L. Croes, age 73 of Clear Lake, WI passed away early on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI after a short battle with cancer.
Dixie Lee Croes was born on September 24, 1951 in New Richmond, WI, the daughter of Edward & Annabelle (Anderson) Stener. She grew up in Clear Lake, WI, was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran church there, and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1969. After graduation, Dixie worked in St. Paul, MN for a short time and then at Fabri-tech in Baldwin, WI. On April 20th, 1974, she was married to Robert Croes at Immanuel Lutheran church in rural Clayton, WI. Together they made their home in Clear Lake and raised 2 sons, Troy & Darren. When Dixie wasn’t taking care of her family, she worked at MW Vet Supply in Clear Lake for many years and retired from there when Bob retired. Dixie had many talents, especially singing, whether by herself or amongst friends. She was the lead singer of a popular local band called the Common People along with her brothers Mike, Rick & their friend Dewey Fansler. Dixie also enjoyed knitting, sewing, canning pickles, making meals for her friends and family and most of all, baking of all kinds, from cookies to her homemade bread that Bob loved. She enjoyed camping trips, garage sales and spending time with her best friend Eva Wilson. Dixie was also a very active and faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. She especially loved being with her family, grandkids and many friends and will be sorely missed by those who knew her.
