Alice M. Hatalla, age 92 of New Richmond, WI, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Westfield’s Hospital in New Richmond, WI.
Alice Marie Hatalla was born in Clear Lake, WI on February 23, 1928 to Arthur and Mary Asp. She was the third of six children. She attended Edgewood School and later Clear Lake High School. It was at a PTA gathering in high school where she met the love of her life, Jerome Hatalla. His singing voice is what she first fell in love with. They were married on August 23, 1947 and they had 53 wonderful years together until his passing in 2000.
When first married, Alice and Jerome moved around a bit before settling in Stillwater, MN to raise their family. In 1971 they moved to a hobby farm in Baldwin, WI and in 1984 to New Richmond, WI. Alice worked as a homemaker. Raising their two sons (Jerry and Daniel) and daughter (Laurie) was her life’s passion. In addition to her love of cooking and baking (her chocolate chip cookies are infamous) she also volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and a Girl Scout leader. Alice enjoyed traveling with Jerome and some of their favorite spots were Germany, Switzerland and Alaska.
Alice is a proud member of her family church, Moe Lutheran, in Clear Lake, WI. She has three grandsons and two granddaughters who have blessed her with six great-grandsons and six great-granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Hatalla; parents, Arthur & Mary Asp; daughter in Law, Linda Hatalla; brothers, Raymond, Harold, & Delbert Asp.
