Marlys Link Obituary

Marlys Joy Link, age 87, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Clear Lake, WI on 2/24/2024, surrounded by family.

 She was born in New Richmond, WI on April 23, 1936 to Alfred and Anna (Anderson) Henderson.  Marlys graduated from Colfax High School in 1953. After graduation, Marlys worked at the Kraft State Bank in Menomonie, WI until 1957.  On    October 20, 1956 she was united in marriage to Herbert H. Link.  To this union, they were blessed with four children.

While raising four children she helped with the livestock trucking business. Driving truck and keeping the books. From 1980 – 2009, she was a bookkeeper for Richard Oldfield CPA in Menomonie.

Marlys was a faithful member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and then New Life Lutheran both in Menomonie. She loved to read and do Sudoku puzzles. When not reading, she was embroidering baby quilts for each of the grandchildren and great grandchildren, making sure each reflected their name on the quilt. She was also the family seamstress right up to the end, along with being the dog sitter.

 

She is survived by her four children:

Roxanne Gibis - Menomonie, WI

Terry (Donna) Link - Colfax, WI

Penny (Paul) O’Connell -  Clear Lake, WI

Kathy (Larry) Link-Grieb - Boyceville, WI

 

Grandchildren:

Jesse (Jenn Nelson) Gibis, Christie (Benjamin) Holcomb, Joy (Cori) Link, Jon Link, Matthew (Jessica) O’Connell,

Eric (Gracie) O’Connell, Dustin Link & Cody (Tracy)Link.

 

Great Grandchildren:

Devyn Lee & Harper Gibis, Alexis Gibis & Vanessa Holcomb, Charleigh Link, Brooklynn,

Evelynn, Levi, & Mason O’Connell, Haven O’Connell, Molly Link, Xander Link.

Bonus great grandchildren: Anthony Descamps & Brayden Link

 

Sister and Brother: Twila Tiller and Vorland (Kate) Henderson of Menomonie, WI

 

Brother in-law: Francis Link of Billings, MT

Sister in-law: Marcia Link of Billings, MT

 

Several nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.

 

Proceeded in death by her parents; loving husband; sister, Lorraine Hendricks; grandson, Joseph Link;

great-granddaughter, Emma Joy O’Connell; nephew, John Tiller & niece, Nicole Henderson,

and several brothers and sisters in law.

 

Per her request, no funeral service will be conducted. A private burial will be held at a later date at Northern Wisconsin    Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

There will be a Celebration of Marlys’s life at a later date. 

 

Scheuermann Funeral Home and Cremation Services are handling the arrangements.
